Choosing the right microphone

Hi everyone,

I d like to get a good microphone to use imitone. I ve selected 2 choices and I d like to know if someone could help or give his opinion.

My choices are between:

- AKG P5S
or
-Behringer XM8500

or if someone can recommend another one on these prices..

Thanks

Best regards

Re: Choosing the right microphone

Hello, Asier —

Based on my experience, pretty much any decent stage mic (cardioid dynamic) should work admirably with imitone.  We use SM58s for our live demos.  The most helpful characteristics are:

— Proximity effect (hearing you over background noise, if you use the mic in loud or reverberant spaces)
— Strong bass response
— Low handling noise (if you are not using a stand)
— Windscreen quality (especially for whistling)

Ultimately imitone can work with even low-quality mics as long as the image of your voice is loud and clear over any background noise and room reverberation.  If you will be using the mic for purposes other than imitone, I would let those guide your decision.
