[closed] 0.8.2: glErrors during graphics init: 1280 (Windows/AMD)

Affected Users:  Windows users with AMD graphics cards.

Symptoms:  imitone fails to start, and a message appears saying "glErrors during graphics init: 1280"

Cause:  A software bug introduced in imitone 0.8.2 causes an error in graphics engine start-up.  It is related to graphics debugging.

Status:  Fixed in 0.9.0.

InstructionsDownload the latest version of imitone.


If using 0.8.2 or older, you can use this workaround:

To prevent this error from occurring:

1.  Find imitone's install location:  usually C:/Program Files (x86)/interactopia/imitone Beta 0.8.2
2.  Open pg.ini in notepad.
3.  Change the "1" in #set graphics.debug 1 to a "0".
4.  Save the file.
5.  Try running imitone again, and report back.

If this replacement fixes the problem for you, please post here and let me know!

Hey, mkrec ---

Your problem actually relates to the inavailability of hardware-accelerated graphics on your computer.  You should look into updating your graphics drivers...

In the meantime, earlier versions of imitone (try 0.7.0) are known to work without accelerated graphics.  I'll look into fixing things so that future versions do as well.

upgrade done, but the same message
the 0.8.1 version was working (no need to go back to 0.7.0)
There is no edge smoothing, so the graphics have rough edges as you say in the link above)

I'll continue investigating this.  Once I fix the crash, the software will still run slowly with rough edges, but it will run.  The only way to get it working 100% is to have well-behaved graphics drivers on your system.

That said, I do notice a bit of weirdness looking at your log-file again.  The bit of code that probes for graphics capabilities is behaving a little oddly...  Hmm.

First off, thank you for a fantastic product - the very fact that imitone can convert my voice to an instrument note is awesome!

I get the same error and I did try changing pg.ini, but the error persists - appreciate any help.
