As a total newbie here, my question is, how do I get more sounds than the ones I can find with imitone? It seems to have only 4 or 5 sounds available. Do I need to purchase some other program to generate the instrument sounds I want? How do I make imitone interface with some other instrument creating software, or do I need a standalone hardware sound source? HELP!!! I want to be able to sing trumpet, bass, lead guitar, piano, and cello or violin.

hello aussiebop,
in imitone there's no built in instruments yet, so you need any DAW and/or vst instruments plugins to make it work.
Ableton live, cubase, logic, protools, even some free ones do the work [try searching for free daws on the web]
I tried nanostudio some time ago and it was pretty nice with imitone.
hope you'll find one which suits you well.
best
